Therapy in Elizabeth City, NC

My goal is not to market myself to you, though I would love the opportunity to see if I might be the right fit for you. In my experience as a psychologist, "fit" is perhaps the most important factor in good therapy outcomes – do you feel comfortable with your therapist, does that person understand you, are they asking you the right questions, is the person hearing you accurately, do you get a sense that you can trust her/him, does the person create a safe space for you to be open and honest?

By the time that most of us seek help, we do not have the energy or motivation to build a new relationship from the ground up, but that is exactly what has to happen for therapy to work, and it helps to have someone who is willing to work and walk with you on your journey.

I offer therapy for adults in Elizabeth City, NC, and surrounding Pasquotank County communities. I have graduate degrees from Boston College (MA) and The Pennsylvania State University (PhD), and I completed a pre-doctoral internship at Penn State's Counseling and Psychological Services in 1999. I have worked both in private practice and college counseling for the past 25 years. I am trained as a generalist — I can work with most people and most issues.
